Pati Trippel

Picture
Artist, Quilter, and Grandmother to eight grand-daughters and two grandsons, Trippel is very active in her community of Hot Springs, Arkansas. Native to Southern California, Pati relocated as a child to Rocky River, Ohio and then Southern Connecticut where she stayed to raise her three sons. While in Connecticut Pati pursued several careers; Systems Engineer with IBM, Laundromat owner and Handscrub Distributer, Legal Secretary, Art Educator, Interfaith Minister, Spiritual Directory, Faux Finisher and was owner and manager of Sandwich Construction Company, an upscale sandwich shop for ten years. As empty nesters, Pati and her husband, Alan, moved to the beautiful state of Arkansas and are enjoying the plethora of activities, clubs and organizations in Hot Springs Village and the surrounding area.  Nationally recognized for her Acrylic Dyed Tissue Collages, Trippel  seeks to capture the spiritual essence of her subject matter through her collages. As an abstract realist, her landscapes, florals and nature studies are crisp, clean, fresh, vibrant with color, and invite the viewer to participate in the creative process of interpreting her work. Through the layering of acrylic dyed tissue on canvas, a unique luminosity, fluidity and transparency is achieved. Found snake skins, mica, metal flakes, feathers, pine needles, butterfly wings  and wildflowers are often incorporated into her paintings as she weaves reality and fantasy on canvas. Pati is an accomplished artist in multiple mediums including acrylic dyed tissue collage, pastels, acrylics, watercolor, polymer clay, dyed citrus peel jewelry, art quilts and other fabric arts …. always enjoying the challenge of trying something new! Her 6"x6" Popcorn Paintings of local sites and 4"x4" paintings of Arkansas birds are very popular with locals and visitors to the area.  Pati currently exhibits her artwork at Artists' Workshop Gallery in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Acrylic Dyed Tissue Collage Process...

Picture
Picture
Acrylic dyed tissue collages are created by first dying white tissue paper with fluid acrylic paints, letting them dry and then collaging the tissues to a painting surface. Oil pastels, glazes and found items in nature are then added to the painting, adding texture and depth to the work of art.
